Exemplar 1 - Tod's Omotesando Building by Toyo Ito

This section by Toyo Ito is a perfect point to start in consideration of the section that I will prepare for. It has a simplicity and straightforwardness that I would aspire to be able to use as a drawing style. This section effectively focuses on the form of the building and the floors, while still including important elements of the building.

The main inspiration I have taken from this thus far is how the internal elements (including the people shown dwelling in the building) have been greyed out or dimmed in comparison to the bolder lines used to indicate the form of the building.

This strikes me as a technique that could be useful if the form of the design is the focal point, or is of a higher substance and importance. Although this particular building's form is not of structural significance, the contrast helps simplify the main spaces in the building. However, the section still provides the detail as to what each space holds, without overpowering the drawing or crowding it too much - and this is what I hope to be able to achieve with my section.
