Tabula Rasa means to learn from doing, and the area of study I had chosen for my building was literature. To be able to apply tabula rasa to this design meant to understand wholly the function of the building in relation to its intended use, as well as how the users will interact with it.
Before being able to design a form for the building, I wanted to be able to understand what my building is about and how it would be structured internally in the sense of the spaces required and how they would relate to each other. Therefore, I needed to understand the spatial connections and the relationships between the spaces, in order to know how they would fit in the building. I started by trying to identify the spaces needed, understand the main areas of the building and how they would be put together.
