Design Concept

The design concept, before concluding a form for the building was the desire to incorporate two aspects - the glass as depicted as the main facet of the folie, and an outdoor reading/reflecting area as a green space and the main informal area of the building. In relation to tabula rasa, this was something that embodied the main theme of learning literature, light, open spaces.

To be able to have the tabula rasa link was to be able to have the main features of the building reflect its use. As a completely open green space, it provides an informal as well as relaxed area for students to do their reading, separate from the learning spaces. This was properly indicated in the spatial connections, and to be able to distinguish the function of the spaces.
